Enhancing Inclusive Excellence in New Hampshire Higher Education Learning Communities

NH Inclusive Excellence Strategic Guide 2011-2016  

The world is changing rapidly, driven by powerful forces such as economics, science, technology, politics, demographics, and religion. Daily, we witness transformations in how we live, how we do business, and how our governments function. Today’s college graduates and citizens must be prepared to navigate a world of transnational borders and diverse cultures. They will also experience increasingly new and old complex cultural difference at home in their communities as demographics rapidly change. New Hampshire graduates and citizens will live and are living and working in a world where the pressing social, economic, religious and sustainability issues are global in nature. Moreover, at the state level New Hampshire colleges and universities are now witnessing the impact of the changing demographics, making it necessary for institutions of higher education within the state to strategically provide leadership in collaboration with stakeholders to anticipate, meet and embrace the powerful challenges and opportunities that current and future demographic changes will yield. EPSCoR – Partnerships for Research and Education

Integral to the Inclusive Excellence initiative is broadening participation in the science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) across the state of New Hampshire and especially in communities where there are large diverse populations or communities that are under-served and under-resourced. The initiative, directed by an advisory board, aims to enhance the state’s capacity by developing a talented, robust and eclectic STEM oriented workforce, capable of performing, adapting and thriving in a dynamic knowledge-driven economy.
